David Neilman’s new carrier has opened its first aircraft. Breeze Airways wants to combine the features of low cost airlines and full fare carriers.
On Thursday (May 27), the new American airline launched regular passenger flights. Breeze Airways’ inaugural MX1 aircraft from Tampa, Florida to Charleston, South Carolina was delivered with the Embraer E-195 (N-190BZ). On the same day, the route opened to other routes from Tampa, Charleston and Hartford.
The new airline focuses on direct flights between non-competitive small and medium American cities. As David Neilman revealed in an interview, while creating the network of connections, the company analyzed the capacity of about 500 pairs of cities. To select possible locations for launching direct flights.
Currently, the carrier is located in four US cities (Tampa, Charleston, Louisville and Hartford), but plans to significantly expand the network of connections on the East Coast and southeastern United States in the coming weeks. Breeze Airways will begin flights to Tulsa, Norfolk, Bentonville / Fayetteville and Akron / Canton in June, while operating in New Orleans in July.
