Police: Argument started between customers at checkout
Footage shows customers fleeing a large shopping mall after the screaming man fired his handgun at least three times. Amateur footage also shows armed guards searching for the culprit. According to preliminary findings of the police, the shooting happened after an argument broke out between two groups of customers at the checkout of one of the stores.
“One video showed customers fleeing from an amusement park on the lower floor of a large shopping mall with children and shopping bags in their arms. Another showed several policemen with guns, (…) and people quickly leaving the large inner atrium “- reported the agency AP.
The Mall of America has also become a place of social gatherings and tourist attractions, with approximately 40 million visitors annually. The carrying of weapons on its premises is prohibited. However, as the mall does not have metal detectors, customers are not searched at the entrance.
