Dwarte Biernicki completes the lineup ahead of the Energa Basketball League’s new season. Joey Brunk, who previously played in the American NCAA Academic League, will join the team.
The 27-year-old midfielder spent his last season at Ohio State replacing EJ Liddle — a player selected in this year’s NBA draft. Brunk played in 28 games, averaging 7.5 minutes, 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds. He began his college basketball career with the Butler Bulldogs, where he played from 2016 to 2019. He then moved on to the Hoosiers roster, where he spent two years. He made 31 appearances in the starting five. During the 2020-2021 season, Joey underwent back surgery and took a medical break from the university.
Team coach Milos Mitrovic had this to say about the Gingerbread newcomer:
Joey is a player who has spent his entire career at top academies pursuing top basketball programs. Various circumstances led to his last years at university not being what they should have been. I am sure he will be important in our team.
The signed contract is valid for one season. Twarde Pierniki will open the games in the Energa Basket Liga on September 24 with a home match against Trefl Sobot.
