Users who manage to log in can be put in a queue warning of high traffic, for example:

If you manage to sign in, you may have been put on a waiting list.

There have been reports of DownDetector crashes on several Activision Blizzard services, thousands of which reported crashes, but only hundreds complained of missing individual Blizzard games. We haven’t seen the usual number of reports that have surfaced on Twitter of the game crashing, so it seems clear that it wasn’t a total crash and that “significant delays and crashes” are unlikely to affect most players. The downtime reports seem to have returned to more or less normal levels.
