If recent religious trends continue, by 2070 the Christian population in the United States will be less than half. These are predictions from a recent Pew Research Center study.

“Since the 1990s, large numbers of Americans have left Christianity and joined the growing ranks of American adults who define their religious identity as atheist, agnostic, or “nothing in particular,” the Pew report points out.

He points out that an increasingly visible trend is changing America’s religious landscape. It prompts many to ponder the future of religion.

The study presents several scenarios. Among other things, he notes that if changes happen at the same pace as now, by 2070, 64 percent will be Christians. Of the population, they can account for only 35 to 54 percent. At the same time, the percentage of those who follow no religion will increase from 30 to 34-52 percent.

According to estimates, Christians made up approximately 64 percent of the United States in 2020. (including children). Religiously unaffiliated make up 30%, and followers of other religions (including Jews, Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists) total 6%.
