Dr. Hub. Dariusz Iwaneczko, Director of the Institute of National Remembrance, Rzeszów Branch and Dr. Miroslav Surtej, Historian of the Branch Office of Historical Research of the National Remembrance Institute in Rzeszów, participated in the Polish Heritage Day in Houston, Texas, USA.
Representatives of the Polish diaspora, including those representing the 1919 emigration, attended the celebrations. Consul General in Houston, Robert Ruzicki, was also present. Prof. Jim Mazurkiewicz, representative of local authority commissioner Jack Cagle, representatives of the Polish School Nicholas Copernicus in Houston, chair of Polish studies at the Catholic University of St. Thomas in Houston.
– The meeting was a contribution to establishing contacts with Polish communities in the context of starting activities as part of the American historical stop in Houston – reports the National Institute of Remembrance in Rzeszów.
During Polish Heritage Day, the Winiarski family from Przemyśl showed themselves in beautiful folk costumes, and they brought to life the Polish folk troupe performing in Houston.
During a visit to Houston at the seat of the Polish Embassy in Houston, Dr. Hop. Dariusz Iwanczko and dr Mirosław Surdej presented the project “Archive full of memories” and notes of the National Institute of Remembrance.
