During the opening Night Live, we followed the announcement of the new PlayStation 5 console. Sony is preparing the DualSense Edge, a device with a number of interesting options that weren’t available on the first PS5 console.
Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President, Platform Experience confirmed on the Sony blog that the Japanese are preparing the first “ultra-configurable” console that users can adapt to according to their needs and playing style.
DualSense Edge will allow players to create their own “unique gaming experience” by customizing their gameplay. The board will receive many customization options that are not available in the first DualSense.
In DualSense Edge, we can freely change or deactivate the functions of the buttons. The manufacturer will allow you to adjust the sensitivity of the analog and the dead zone (the distance that the analog stick moves before it is recognized in the game), and he also did not forget about the triggers whose range and dead zone will be adjusted. Sony used the well-known option from other professional controllers, thanks to which we will be able to at least reduce the moment of activation of the L2 / R2 to start aiming and shooting faster.
In the latest PlayStation 5, we will save many unique settings through profiles that we will change “on the go” (without entering the app). At the same time, equipment will receive sets prepared for individual games – for example, God of War Ragnarok or the Battle Royale network.
The console is equipped with a new “Fn” button, thanks to which we will be able to quickly adjust the settings – switch profiles, adjust the volume or chat balance, and we will also be able to access the panel settings menu.
The rumors have been confirmed – DualSense Edge will be enriched with analogs and interchangeable back buttons. The set will include three types of replaceable “Analog Covers” (standard, high and low cover), what’s more, we can conveniently replace the back buttons to provide a different experience. There will also be an option to change the entire “analog unit” and these parts will be sold separately.
The DualSense Edge will keep all the classic DualSense elements, so we can count on a built-in microphone, haptic vibrations, adaptive stimuli, and motion control.
In the kit with DualSense Edge we get analog overlays, a set of back buttons and a USB Type-C braided cable with a lock, thanks to which it will not slip during the game. The company also prepared a case. Details of the premiere will be made available “in the coming months”.
