FIFA decided to extend the possibility of suspending contracts with Russian and Ukrainian clubs. Among other things, representatives of Poland can benefit from such a solution.
The outbreak of war in Ukraine prompted many players to change the colors of their clubs. Russian aggression has pushed football players hard to insist on transfers that would allow them to leave the territory of our eastern neighbor or the country of Vladimir Putin.
Then FIFA came up with a useful solution. The football organization has created a special transfer window that allows players to change colors and sign short-term contracts.
Most of them were valid until June 30 this year and players are supposed to return to their previous teams. As a result, Grzegorz Krychowiak could again find himself in Lokomotiv Moscow.
Now, however, FIFA has made a decision that the precedent it set must not be suddenly withdrawn. Therefore, it was announced the extension of the possibility of suspending contracts with Russian and Ukrainian clubs.
It will be valid until June 30, 2023. This is very good news for players who do not want to return to Russia or Ukraine.
Ekstraklasa clubs can also benefit from it. In recent months, a large group of football players from outside our eastern borders have come to Poland.
