According to information from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the seven-day COVID-19 infection rate, that is, the number of infections per 100,000 during the week, rose again and reached eight percent on Thursday. 74 percent of all injuries are the responsibility of Delta.
During the past 24 hours, 1,642 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Germany.
The seven-day COVID-19 infection rate has increased again. According to the RKI, that value is now eight percent, compared to 7.1 percent the day before. The lowest level for this value was last recorded on July 6, when it was 4.9%. New infections per 100,000 residents.
The delta type of coronavirus is also becoming increasingly dominant in Germany. It currently accounts for 74 percent. of tested samples, according to an RKI report. Infections using the previously dominant alpha variant have fallen rapidly in recent weeks, to about 22 percent. Other variants still play a minor role in Germany.
The incidence in the 20-24 age group has increased particularly sharply in the past two weeks – from 10% to 19%. RKI also indicates a slight increase in infections among adolescents aged 15 years and over. On the contrary, in other age groups, the incidence is either decreasing or stable. For the elderly, for example, this value has remained at 1 for the past two weeks.
Across Germany in 24 hours 32 more deaths linked to the coronavirus were reported. A week ago, there were 31 victims of the virus. The number of people who have died from the SARS-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the epidemic has risen to 91,319.
What is the epidemic situation in Poland?
On July 15, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 105 new and confirmed cases of coronavirus. Two people died of COVID-19, while 10 more people died due to coexistence of the coronavirus with other diseases.
On Wednesday, the ministry said there are 388 patients with COVID-19 in hospitals, 62 of whom are connected to ventilators.
The resort said 6,507 beds and 647 ventilators have been equipped for COVID-19 patients.
The ministry also said 90,470 people are in quarantine. So far, 2,652,655 infected people have recovered.
