The favorite in this match was Hurkacz (10 ATP), who already won in 2022 with Rinderknech (ATP 60). During the tournament in Miami it was 7: 6 (5), 6: 2 for the pole. It was their only meeting so far. This time, analysts also indicated that the 25-year-old is defending the title, although the French can count on more support from the public.
Hurkacz tried to take the lead on court from the start. Already in the fourth game he broke his opponent, thanks to which he was leading 3: 1. In addition, he served brilliantly, which Rinderknech could not cope with. Additionally, view some amazing stocks like the one below.
The game picture has not changed in the second part of the first group. Hurkacz won 6:3 with Rinderknech in just over half an hour. The French began to look a little better, but they could not compete with the pole.
In the second match, Rinderknech started with a powerful blow. He started a group from a specific location and played at a higher level. However, Hurkacz defended his passes throughout, although with a 2:1 3:0 score, the Frenchman was close in the first half. The pole managed to adapt and after a long match the advantage was 2:2.
After this unsuccessful attempt to break through, something erupted in the French. On the other hand, Hurkacz continued his work and led to a breakout in 3:2. The Pole won the following matches without any problems, thus the whole set 6:2. The whole game lasted a little over an hour.
Thanks to this win, Hurkacz qualified for the semi-finals of the ATP 250 Championships in Metz. His opponent would be Lorenzo Sonego (the 65th ATP), who defeated Sebastian Korda (49th ATP) 6:4, 6:4. Once again, the Pole would be the favourite.
Hurkacz has a great chance of progressing to the final and repeating the success of 2021, when he won the entire tournament. This victory will be significant in terms of the struggle for a place in the ATP Finals. This tournament will feature eight of this year’s top tennis players. At the moment, the Pole is ninth, but if he wins the Metz, he will be promoted to eighth.
