The United States can diplomatically ignore the Beijing Olympics. The reason for this is the US-China conflict. The bill was approved by the US Senate.
The Americans have already stated their position on the Games to be held in Beijing. Because of their policy towards the country hosting the next four-year event, the United States wants to make clear its disagreement with the actions of the Chinese. There is a draft law on diplomatic boycott of games next year.
It should contain the fact that the head of state and other government officials will speak negatively about the participation of Americans in the Olympics. We read on the bill: “It is US policy to diplomatically boycott the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and to end the Chinese Communist Party’s continued human rights abuses.”
However, despite the above advice against starting in Beijing, American athletes can still compete for China – hence the name of diplomatic boycott. The Senate has already approved the plan. Now it will go to the House of Representatives and come into force after the signature of President Joe Biden.
