The young and talented swimmer from Tornovic was spotted by representatives of the University of North Carolina and will travel to the United States in 2024, after the Olympics in Paris.
As Ksawery Masiuk said in an interview with Radio DAM, he received many offers from various American universities and chose one that could successfully combine training and the development of his swimming career with science.
– The decision to develop in both areas, i.e. swimming and science, is up to me because it is very difficult to connect in Poland. I’m glad about it, but I’m also a little worried about what it will look like. Nevertheless, I think this is a good move because, if necessary, swimming will be a “lifeline” for me if it does not work.
The young swimmer was initially opposed to his parents’ decision to go abroad, but after analyzing the offer, they changed their minds and began to encourage him to take such an important step in his life.
Xavier had already gone to university, which made him more confident. However, after finishing high school, he will not travel to the United States until 2024, after the Olympics in Paris.
In recent days, across Poland, Ksawery Masiuk has become very loud. In early May, at போலdź at the Polish Open 2022, he broke two records of Polish senior players – 50 and 100 m backstroke (24.68 v and 53.40 v respectively). It’s been a few days since the match and I still can’t believe it.
– Honestly, I have not yet come to the conclusion that Poland is the record holder. I feel like I was before the match and I hope it stays that way and nothing bothers me. Although these are very quick times, I still want to upgrade them. Although this is a great achievement, I would appreciate it if someone other than me did it.
In the near future, there will be many more openings in swimming pools before Ksawery in Poland and around the world. In June he will start with others at the Polish Senior Championships in Lublin, the Senior World Championships in Budapest and the European Junior Championships in Chetubal, Portugal.
