Kaspersky Corporation has announced the suspension of operation and sale of its Kaspersky Secure Connection VPN service in Russia. The company announced the dates for the suspension of the free and paid versions of the solution. People who bought subscriptions are in a slightly better position. However, they won’t enjoy Kaspersky VPNs for long either.

At the same time, the company emphasized that the withdrawal of the service will be planned in such a way as to have the least possible impact on customers. Russians will be able to use the free version of the solution until November 15, 2022. In return, the paid version of the service will be available on the website and in stores with mobile applications until the end of December 2022.
Kaspersky ends VPN in Russia
The exception is customers with active subscriptions. According to Bleeping Computer, they will be able to use the VPN service until the end of the paid period. However, it couldn’t be longer than the end of 2023. The website contacted Kaspersky for comment on the decision to suspend VPN service in Russia. However, a company spokesperson declined to provide detailed information.
Kaspersky Secure Connection VPN is another such service that will disappear from Russia. Earlier, the same fate befell ia Windscribe, Proton, Browsec, Proxy Master, Melon or RedCat. The reason for blocking VPNs was the decisions of the national communications regulator, Roskomnadzor, which wanted to tighten control over VPN service providers. Bleeping Computer notes that most companies have not agreed to release their own databases and censor VPN connections, which would allow Russia to control users’ traffic and identity.
Kaspersky said that changes to the operation of Kaspersky Secure Connection will not affect any country except Russia. The company also added: The Russian version of the application will continue to be available on Kaspersky Lab websites and in mobile app stores. For users outside Russia, the set of VPN features and available servers will not change.
