Krejcikova-Pavlyuchenkova. Victory of Barbora Krezhkova. Roland Garros

Until now, the life of Pavlyuchenkova and Krizhikova was completely different. In her 52nd appearance in the main category of the Grand Slam tournaments, the Russian was promoted to the decisive match for the first time in her career. The contestant from Samara never made it to the “four” in a competition of this rank.

33rd place in the WTA rankings, Krejcikova, having achieved successes in the doubles, only reached the main ladder of the Grand Slam competition in singles for the fifth time. Previously, she passed the second round only once – the previous season she stopped at Roland Garros in the 1/8 finals. The Brno-born tennis player already knows the taste of winning in Paris – three years ago she won the doubles title there. Now he also has a chance for a double – on Sunday he will play Katerina Senyakova in the crucial doubles match against Iga Švetik and Bethany Matek-Sands.

Saturday’s match started better with the 29-year-old Russian, who got a break in the first game. At the time, no one expected that it would be the only match the older qualifier would play in Group A. Six more matches fell at the expense of the Czech woman, who received the opponent’s serve three times, and during her pass did not allow her opponent to get a break point at least once.

Thus, the group ended with a very convincing victory by Krejcikova, who won 6: 1 and came close to the success of her life in one group. But unexpectedly, the second stage of the competition began with the advantage of Pavlyuchenkova. The Russian defended the break point in the opening match, after a moment she broke her opponent, then won with great confidence with her pass and the score was 3-0.

In the sixth game, the older tennis player had another feat and was already winning 5:1. Shortly thereafter, I wasted a set ball, then lost serve and asked for a break due to a muscle issue. Health problems were not serious, because in the next match she received a pass from Krizhikova again, closing the second set 6: 2.

The definitive version of the competition provided a lot of emotions. After six matches, the scoreboard was tied 3-3, and both players had one break each. In the seventh inning, Krizhikova again took the service of her opponent. A moment later, she won her bid and was already leading 5:3. In the next match, the Czech had two match balls, wasted them and allowed the Russian to keep the match. After a few minutes, it was over. The youngest of the finalists won her own bid to the 30th and earned her first Grand Slam victory.

Barbora Krezhikova – Anastazga Pavlyuchenkova 6:1, 2:6, 6:4
