The leader of the Belarusian regime, commenting on the decision to start defensive preparations, stated that he would not allow “Russia to be stabbed in the back.” The politician’s words were received during a meeting with the Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, Oleksandr Wuvovich, and were quoted by the official news agency “Belta”.
– We should not be accused of fighting in Ukraine and so on. We must protect our homeland. As for Russian support, I emphasize once again: there should be no back, side or side stabbing against the Russian troops. It will not happen. This is our duty to our ally, said Lukashenka.
At the same time, the Belarusian politician noted that in the past he had ordered to draw up plans of military action on the border with Ukraine, taking into account the “experience of a counter-response”. Belarusian staff officers also had to draw up plans for border protection.
In the context of Russia’s war with Ukraine Lukashenka described the whole situation as “dangerous” and called on his authorities not to be afraid of anything. The task of the organs, if necessary, is to alert not only the regular units, but also the people’s militia.
– You don’t have to be afraid of anything. You have to sound the alarm in some military unit, according to the rules of war, to show that that unit is alive. We need to defend the territory. The people’s militia is also needed – to immediately check what kind of fighters we will have and what weapons they will have. The Belarusian politician said that all this is necessary.
As recently reported by the Ukrainian media, it turned out on September 17 that the military exercises conducted in Belarus were extended by Lukashenko’s decision to at least September 24.
