More than 128 million PLN to implement programs promoting healthy eating habits among students in the academic year 2021/2022!
The Cabinet approved a draft cabinet regulation regarding the amount of funds allocated to the payment of national aid and European Union aid as part of the school program financing and the amount of financial aid for the implementation of activities within the framework of this program in the academic year 2021/2022 submitted by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The government will allocate 128.1 million PLN to implement programs that promote healthy eating habits among students in the 2021/2022 academic year. We will receive more than 100 million more Polish zlotys from the European Union. The funds will allow the purchase and delivery of fruits and vegetables, as well as milk and dairy products to educational institutions. The implemented programs will also provide financial assistance to families with school-age children – the products provided will be a valuable supplement to the children’s daily diet.
The issues of healthy eating are of particular importance due to the obesity epidemic declared by the World Health Organization. As experts in the field of nutrition point out, in the prevention of obesity, regular consumption of small portions of fruit, vegetables and milk may be crucial to avoiding this cultural disease in the future. It is important to reach the widest possible group of schoolchildren and youth through appropriate educational and preventive measures. This is especially important given that students have often had to reduce their physical activity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
