Sky’s Florian Plettenberg said Taiwo Ooni will become the champion of Nottingham Forest’s first record transfer after the club won promotion to the Premier League this week.
The two-time European Cup winner and one-time England champion returns to compete in the country’s top flight after a 23-year hiatus.
Tricky Trees will confirm this fact by announcing the first summer promotion in person Taiwo Awoniii from Union Berlin.
The Nigeria international has not managed to break into Liverpool in the past and after completing a string of loans he was finally bought out by the German side before the start of previous matches.
And in these games the 24-year-old showed himself very well and finished the struggle on all fronts with 20 goals in 45 matches.
These achievements gave the central striker a chance to get the long-awaited opportunity to appear at the level of the English Premier League.
The City Ground team tried to negotiate better terms for Awni’s transfer from Union Berlin. But the team from the German capital refused to sell the Nigerian for less than the stipulation in his contract.
As a result, “Tricky Trees” decided to activate it and thus transfer 20.5 million euros to the bank account of the Bundesliga team.
The Premier League newcomer will open the summer window with a record transfer, bringing Joao Carvalho from Benfica in July 2018 for the biggest sum in July 2018 – for €15m.
For Union, it will, in turn, be the highest profit from sales. The Nigerian will certainly outpace the amount the club earned on the departures of Sebastian Anderson to Cologne in September 2020 and Robert Andreich to Bayer Leverkusen in August 2021 – €6.5 million.
