New generations of graphics cards are fast approaching, but before changing the guard, I decided to put together the current flagship again. Most importantly – the final duel of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT will also include an additional variant. Both cards will be checked for usability of AMD Smart Access Memory and Resizable BAR technologies, which are essentially identical in functionality. However, the question is which application will bring the greatest benefits? Is it really possible to significantly improve performance by rearranging a single option in the motherboard’s UEFI? This will be verified by a dozen or so games…

This would significantly reduce or completely eliminate the bottleneck when transferring data between components, because the processor coordinates the work of the graphics system.

Officially, AMD Smart Access Memory requires AMD Ryzen 3000/5000 family processors (except 3000G), AMD 500 chipset and Radeon RX 6000 chipsets, but it also works on AMD B450 chipsets as well as the Radeon RX 570. NVIDIA refers to the AMD Ryzen 5000 processor. with a set of chipsets. AMD 400/500, 10/11/12 Intel Core processors with Z490/H470/B460/H410 chipsets or equivalent.

AMD Smart Access Memory turned out to be a fundamentally closed standard, intended only for the AMD platform, but after activation it should work in each address. Turns out NVIDIA’s Resizable BAR to make a change would be more expensive, but it would only be active in select PC games (depending on the driver). The reason is the precautions of greens, because not every implementation leads to increased efficiency, but in extreme cases it can cause destabilization. Of course, the Resizable BAR can be played manually in almost any production by editing the profiles. For comparison purposes, I chose the leader in the offerings of both manufacturers – ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Gaming Card OC And the Sapphire Radeon RX 6950 XT Nitro Pure. This will allow you to highlight the differences in the implementation of AMD Smart Access Memory and Resizable BAR as closely as possible.
