The Japanese giant continues its store development strategy, announced mid-year. After success in the US, it’s time to launch PlayStation Direct also in Europe. Learn the details.
We wrote about PlayStation Direct already in the middle of the year. At that time, the owners of the Japanese company not only told about a large amount of additional funds for further investments, but also emphasized the importance of developing well-received initiatives – among them the branded PlayStation Store. Jim Ryan made no secret that the idea was met with great interest in the United States and announced that he would continue to promote the idea.
As confirmed by the President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, PlayStation Direct is entering Europe – The first store was launched in Germany today. However, this is not a single phenomenon, as websites will soon be launched in Great Britain, Holland, Belgium, France and Luxembourg. We know that the activity is likely to expand by the end of the current fiscal year, which is March 31, 2022.
The PlayStation Direct offering includes not only the latest Japanese consoles and accessories, but also games on physical media. It happens that the manufacturer offers competitive offers and prices that may interest many players. However, we haven’t learned yet about the industry giant’s additional plans and don’t know if the store will also open in Poland – so we’ll have to wait for more reports from Sony.
