The Blues’ first choice was to be another Bundesliga player. Last season’s Champions League winners wanted a lot for Norwegian Erling Haaland, but failed to convince Borussia Dortmund to sell, despite a reported £150m stake.
As Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel is looking for a striker to score, he has fallen for Lewandowski. In that season, the Polish broke Gerd Muller’s record and scored 41 goals in a single competition in the German League. Lewy scores very regularly and although he will turn 33 in August, he guarantees high quality.
The Blues are willing to pay 50 million pounds for the captain of the Polish national team. Only Bayern won’t let him go anywhere. Moreover, although Lewandowski’s contract with this club is valid until 2023, Germany wants to extend it.
It is not the only English club interested in the Pole. Manchester City is also mentioned in this context, but the England champions seem to have left it up.
