The authors of the strategy that will replace the previous document from 2015 estimate that Russia is now the target of a deliberate containment policy. Attempts to “put pressure on Russia” make – in their opinion – military threats increase.
“The United States has consistently pursued a policy of abandoning its international arms control obligations. The planned deployment of US medium and short-range missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region poses a threat to strategic stability and international security,” the document states.
In general, the strategy often mentions “the United States and its allies” as a source of various threats.
Part of the document is devoted to economic security. The strategy acknowledges the continuing social and economic problems felt by Russian citizens. As a result, “there is a growing need in society to increase the efficiency of state administration, ensure social justice and strengthen the fight against corruption” – the assessment of the authors of the document.
The strategy also states that “humanity faced the risk of losing its moral and spiritual landmarks” as well as “firm moral principles.” In the chapter on strategy on “Protection of traditional Russian moral and spiritual values” it is warned that “individual freedom is now absolute, active propaganda of indulgence is being carried out, the lack of morality and selfishness, and the cult of violence, consumption and complacency is being implemented.”
The authors of the document accused foreign non-governmental and religious organizations, extremist and terrorist organizations of attacking traditional Russian values.
The strategy recognizes the development of relations with China and India as one of Russia’s priorities.
