On Easter Saturday in Grudziądz he finished a very long streak undefeated in the PGE Ekstraliga of the country’s champion team. Betard Sparta Wrocław lost the fight on points for the first time in nearly a year. Her series stopped at 16 games.

In 2021, Betard Sparta Wrocław started his way to the top with a home win against his rival from Toruń (51:39). Then, though, came two straight losses, largely due to Tai Woffinden’s injury. First we didn’t win at Grudziądz (44:45), then at Lublin (38:52).
Wroclaw, still without the British in the team, then went to Czestochovo and won there convincingly (52:38). They sped up, Woffinden was back and by the end of the season they had not lost even once, racking up a 12-match winning streak at the PGE Ekstraliga en route. The team led by coach Darius Olidizio broke the club’s record.
By the end of last season, Sparta was winning everything they could. The exception was a tie in the first match of the final in Lublin. No one in Wroclaw knows the word “failure”. The opening this year extended the grand streak. The group of Lower Silesia smashed the inhabitants of Toruń (59:31).
But in the second round, the Polish champion in Grudziądz lost to the local ZOOleszcz GKM (41:49). Very fast and efficient, Maciej Janowski did not receive enough support from his colleagues. As a result, Petard of Sparta tasted defeat in the league for the first time in 356 days!
