Smartphones finally stopped growing. Galaxy S22 will be smaller than S21

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series of smartphones is expected to debut in January 2022, but the leak season has just begun. The first is that new models will eventually stop growing. Screen size will be smaller.

The latest upcoming launch of the Samsung S series will be the expected Galaxy S21 FE, a model that many people have been waiting for. After all, predecessor, Galaxy S20 FEIt has gained great popularity due to its good price/performance ratio. Many functions of the smartphone were cut out compared to the base S20, but its price was also much lower.

And while we’ll wait for the Galaxy S22 premiere – as the name suggests – until 2022, the first leaks about these models have already surfaced. SamMobile Service, which generally contains real behind-the-scenes information from Samsung, this time introduced the screen diagonals in the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra – none of them will be bigger than the previous one.

According to one information source, the diagonal screens of the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra phones are, respectively: 6.1 inches, 6.5-6.6 inches and 6.8 inches. The second guide gives more accurate values: 6.06 inches, 6.55 inches, and 6.82 inches.

These dimensions appear from two independent sources. If this information is confirmed, it will appear that Samsung will stop expanding its smartphones. The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will be smaller than their predecessors (they had 6.2 and 6.7 inches, respectively), and the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have the same screen diagonally.

Is this an announcement that smartphones have reached their maximum size?

I rely on it a lot, because after years of expanding smartphones, it’s time to say “stop”. Recent generations have grown slightly, but they are still growing. Considering the fact that most people change their smartphone every few years, switching to a newer model now always involves switching to a larger screen.

The 6.1-inch Galaxy S22 is a nice, compact size (by today’s standards). Although the diagonal seems huge, this smartphone is practically not giant, due to the extremely long proportions of the screen. In contrast, 6.55 inches is a good diagonal and not overstated for a smartphone in the Plus variant. I still consider Ultra 6.81 to be too big, but the Ultra series has it all surviveEven at the expense of the work environment.
