The Anti-Doping Committee of Saudi Arabia announced that the athlete waived his right to open a B sample at a hearing where all documents relating to the case were examined. The name of the substance the footballer was taking was not mentioned.
The mould was tested prior to the King’s Cup semi-finals, where Al Ittihad lost 0-1 to Al Fayhaa on 4 April.
In a statement, the Anti-Doping Authority stated that “the period of suspension of Fahd Al-Mawlid in all competitions at the national and international levels begins with a temporary suspension on March 28.”
While the athlete was previously banned from participating in any competition, the statement added that he will be allowed to return to training during the last two months of the suspension period.
For the second time in his career, in three years, the generator tested positive for drugs. On May 9, 2019, the footballer received a one-year disqualification for using a prohibited substance during a league match with Al Nasr.
The 27-year-old Al Mawlid striker is one of the most popular football players in Saudi Arabia. His goal in the match against Japan ensured that the team reached the finals of the 2018 World Cup. In the World Cup in Russia, the footballer did not distinguish himself.
He started his career in the union when he was sixteen years old. Two years later, he made his debut for his country and scored his first goal for Saudi Arabia against China in the Asian Championship qualifiers. Since then, he has become a regular player for the national team, playing 68 matches and scoring 17 goals. In 2022, Al-Mawlid played three matches with the Saudi national team.
Saudi Arabia is one of Poland’s competitors in the first stage of the World Cup in Qatar. The meeting of these teams will be held on November 26 in the Rajjan region.
