The three-day visit of the Minister of Education and Science to the United States, Prismislav Sarnek, has come to an end. The head of the ministry traveled to the states of Illinois and Wisconsin, where he met with Polish community, scientists of Polish descent, and academic staff at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The main purpose of the visit was to learn about the problems and challenges faced by Polish immigrants in the United States in the field of education and science, and to provide MEiN concessions to Polish schools and educators operating in the United States.
The first day of the visit to the United States marked the signing of the Declaration of Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science with the Illinois Provincial Council for Teacher Development and Guidance. Along with Minister Przemysław Czarnek, the document was signed by the Director General of the Illinois Council of Education, Ernesto Matthias, who announced his arrival in Poland shortly. The announced collaboration will include creating opportunities for teaching staff exchange, exchange of experience in the field of professional development, joint ventures in the field of professional development and promotion of local bilateral projects. Based on the completed agreement, Illinois state officials will develop Polish language teaching in schools in the US system.
Another important event was the meeting of the President of MEiN with the scientists of the Medical College of Wisconsin. The meeting was also attended by representatives of Dublin Catholic University, the Medical University of Wroclaw, the Central Medical Hospital of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in Warsaw, the National Center for Research and Development and the KO-MED Medical Centers. Talks related to establishing collaboration between universities and exchanging experiences in the field of cancer research. The third highlight of Minister Przemysław Czarnek’s visit to the United States was a meeting with senators and legislators from the state of Wisconsin. Senator Don Feyn presided over the debate. At the meeting, the exchange of education and the possibility of tightening cooperation in this area were discussed. It was emphasized that this is one of the key factors contributing to the growth of the academic staff. This is a continuation of the meetings launched in 2018.
In addition, during meetings with representatives of the school and university Polish immigrants, the President of MEiN presented medals of the National Education Commission to eminent Polish education enthusiasts. He also visited monuments related to Polish history. He also appeared at a press conference at the Consulate General of Poland in Chicago, where he presented new solutions prepared for educational institutions.
