The United States will provide the Czech Republic with eight helicopters, including six attack helicopters and two multi-role helicopters. The U.S. Embassy in Prague announced on Twitter Thursday night that Prague will only pay for the modernization of the machines and their delivery.
The handover of the machines will take place as part of the Enhanced Defense Articles (EDA) programme America.
In 2019 Republic of Che Eight UH-1Y Venom multi-role helicopters and four Bell-manufactured AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters were ordered from the US. The concern started production of the first Viper for the Czech Army in February this year.
In total, the Czechs will have 20 American machines at their disposal. Defense Minister Jan Chernozova agreed to supply eight machines during a visit to Washington in April this year. As he said, a letter has recently been received by the Ministry of Defense, making arrangements for the same.
Under the EDA program, the Czech Republic will receive six AH-1Z and two UH-1Y helicopters. The US embassy said that the Czech side will only pay for the modernization and transportation of the machines.
