The US Vice President mentioned the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile by North Korea on Friday during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the Thai capital (Bangkok). The missile was far enough to reach the continental United States, but fell 200 kilometers from Japan.
“I have asked a group of allies and partners to join us in condemning North Korea’s launch of a long-range missile. I have asked them to join us so that we can discuss the next step,” said Kamala Harris. “North Korea’s recent behavior is a flagrant violation of several United Nations resolutions,” the US vice president noted.

According to Harris, Pyongyang’s actions “destabilize security in the region and unnecessarily heighten tensions.” The US vice president criticized the situation, insisting that “North Korea has once again been called upon to cease further illegal activities.” Harris, on behalf of the United States, reaffirmed “an unwavering commitment to alliances in the Indo-Pacific region.”
