June is called the month of glory. This date was not chosen randomly. In this way, LGBT circles want to remember the Stonewall riots of late June 1969. On this occasion, at the initiative of the US Embassy in Poland, a special letter was created in support of the LGBT community.
The document was signed. Including representatives of the European Commission and the European Parliament and several ambassadors. From Spain, Israel, USA, Italy and Great Britain.
June, the so-called glorious month. Special letter from diplomats
“During the so-called Pride Month, we would like to express our support for efforts to raise public awareness of issues affecting the LGBT community and other minorities in Poland,” the letter read.
The rest of the letter emphasized the importance of respecting the rights of minorities. Among the OSCE responsibilities are the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as EU and European Council standards. Diplomats stressed that “representatives of minorities in particular must be protected against verbal and physical attacks and hate speech.”
“We recognize the hard work of the community LGBT For the work of all who aim to ensure compliance with LGBT rights in Poland and around the world, as well. We know how big a challenge it is to prevent discrimination by gender orientation or gender identity. Human rights are universal and everyone, including LGBT people, has the right to enjoy them fully. “ – We read in the letter.
