These salaries will be in September 2022. Salaries after gross and net changes in July [16.08.2022]

In January of this year, a package of tax changes was introduced as part of the “Polish Deal” program. The way the reform was implemented was criticized, and the government decided to change the regulations during the fiscal year. They came into effect at the beginning of July. One of the most important changes is the reduction in pre-investment income tax from 17 percent to 12 percent. This means that the net salaries of many Poles are higher than in July and will remain the same in September as well.

Polish governance reform is expected to benefit about 25 million taxpayers. Economists predict that the vast majority of Poles will benefit from the tax changes, and this is a good step towards regulating the Polish system. The two most important reforms of the Polish deal are: to cut the pre-investment profit rate from 17 percent to 12 percent. And the resignation of the so-called allowances for the middle class.

The amount of the net minimum wage will not change with the introduction of tax changes. The reason is that Poland’s minimum wage is completely tax-exempt.

Total 3010 PLN is currently the minimum wage in Poland. The hourly wage is 19.70 PLN total. For comparison, the average gross salary in the first quarter of 2022 was PLN 6,235.22 (data from the Central Statistical Office).

If the tax changes under the Polish order do not take effect in January 2022, the employee receiving the minimum wage will net approximately PLN 2,210 under the previous rules. However, if we calculate the bonus taking into account tax changes as part of the “Polish system”, then the minimum net salary is PLN 2363.56. According to the government’s proposal, in 2023, the minimum wage will increase in two stages. – The government proposes that from January 1, the minimum gross salary is PLN 3383, and from July 1 – PLN 3450 – we read on the website of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery

In 2023, the minimum hourly wage for some civil law contracts will also increase – from January 1 it will be PLN 22.10, and from July 1 – PLN 22.50. Such suggestions were sent to the Social Dialogue Council in mid-June.
