A total of 603 earthquakes were reported over the weekend in the area around Lake Salt Sea, California. Shocks of at least one Richter scale were added. The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.
Most of the tremors occurred near the city of Caliphatria. About 80 km from the Mexican border, San Andreas accidentally shook the earth. The area is not densely populated and there is no potential damage or desired information.
United States. Tremor in the California area
Earlier, the US Geological Survey reported two magnitude 5.9 earthquakes off the coast of southern Oregon and northern California. Four shocks ranging from 3.9 to 5.9 on the Richter scale were in total within a few hours.
In the last 10 days, there have been 11 earthquakes measuring 3.0 or more near Los Angeles. Data from the past three years indicate that California and Nevada are affected by five earthquakes each year, averaging 5.0 to 6.0 on the Richter scale.
The effects of an earthquake on the Richter scale
Richter scale shocks below 2.0 are rarely felt by humans. An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale is felt, but is harmless. Tremors of up to 6.1 degrees can cause minor damage to buildings.
