US election interference. Sanctions were imposed on FSB associates

The US administration on Friday announced sanctions against Alexander Ionov, the leader of the “anti-globalization movement” who is involved in the Kremlin’s “global influence activities”, as well as meddling in elections and efforts to destabilize the US and its allies. Ionov and his accomplices were supposed to be acting on behalf of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

A Justice Ministry report on the charges against Ionov said he recruited “political groups in the United States” in Florida, Georgia and California and “exercised leadership or control over them on behalf of the FSB.”

Ionov, among others, sponsor a trip by activists from one of the unnamed organizations to protest against one of the social networks that imposed restrictions on Russian content. Ionowa, following journalist Casey Michel on Twitter, said these organizations included the California-Texas Secession Movement and the Uhuru “Black Nationalist” movement.

The second person subject to sanctions, Natalia Berlinova Chairman of FSB-affiliated NGO PICREADI, which holds annual meetings for “interested leaders in academia, media, private sector and government institutions”.
