The history of the city of Eve Maria is still very short. Its founder is multimillionaire Tom Monaghan, owner of the world-famous “Domino’s Pizza” chain. The now 84-year-old businessman, who has been a Catholic for many years, has long supported Catholic organizations, especially those aimed at saving lives. After leaving his institution in 1998, he pursues his best vision: to create a private Catholic university with a “connected” city. – I want to save souls. I have received so much from God and now I want to give something to my neighbor. I will do my best to help them avoid going to heaven and hell – Monaghan justified his decision.
The first attempt to implement the project in Ann Arbor, Michigan, failed. Monacon did not have a building permit, so he moved to South Florida, where local authorities offered him extensive undeveloped land near Naples. The first construction of the university and the city began in February 2006, and a year later the campus was ready for occupation. At the same time, he became president of the University of Monaco.
He is estimated to have invested about $ 250 million in the infrastructure of the university and the city of Monaco. Toy. 11 thousand. And in many shopping districts, construction work is underway in several locations. Built in the Italian style, the city center has long been ready, with its main feature – the church, which was erected this year from March 2006 to March 2007, and the architect who built it may have used a Monaco painting.
The fa முகade of the temple is adorned with a nine-meter high notice, in which the archangel greets Michael Mary with the words “Ave Maria”. The steel structure is also notable, with a large area 30 meters high that can accommodate 1,100 worshipers inside and outside the church. To the left of the church is the university campus and to the right is the city center. The oval square around the church is called Notice Square. All the streets of the city lead to it.
Strict regulations in the city
Over the past 15 years people have migrated to Eve Maria from all over the United States. Currently, there are about 10,000 in the city. Residents. There are already many restaurants, shops, medical clinics and schools. Residents enjoy family-friendly atmosphere and interactions with like-minded people. Although most of them are Catholics, they insist that they are open to accepting anyone. Eve Maria applies to new citizens on her website and social networks, offering housing, apartments and leisure opportunities.
A private university is gaining more and more recognition outside the Catholic sphere. Fifteen years after its inception, it now has over a thousand students in various fields. Many young people can get scholarships. There are dress codes on campus: for example, strapless tops, shorts or very tight clothing are not allowed. Dormitories are separate for female and male students, and there are strict hours for visitors. Although the rules are generally accepted, many students leave their dormitories, especially on weekends, to places with more freedom, such as “night life” in the most remote, comfortable coastal area of Naples.
There are other strict rules on Ave Maria. At the behest of founder Tom Monaghan, shop owners are not allowed to sell contraceptives or pornography, for example. There is also a “domino pizza” pizzeria in the city.
