In the second half of May last year, vaccination of adolescents aged 16-17 years began in Poland, and a few weeks later – children aged 12-15 years. “The European Medicines Agency, despite this announcement, has not yet made a recommendation on vaccination with a booster dose for adolescents. It should take place in the coming days, because the EMA meeting continues until January 27,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

Winter break and omicron speed up the decision
“However, taking into account the recommendation of the vaccination team of the Minister of Health, and taking into account the position of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO), we have decided that on January 25, 2022 the booster dose registration process will begin for people vaccinated with two doses from the age of 16 years. All online referrals have already been issued,” Andrusiewicz told PAP. The decision, he explained, concerns, inter alia, with the fifth wave of the epidemic, an increase in infections and young people leaving for the winter holidays.
Pfizer – Dose after five months
The booster vaccinations will be given to people aged 16-18 with Comirnaty (Pfizer-BioNTech) at least five months apart from the second dose of the covid-19 vaccination (or vaccination with a single dose of the preparation).
