Windows 11 will force the webcam. Already in 2023, you will have every laptop and all-in-one deviceEach initial presentation of the new Windows brings with it fears and doubts. Currently, we know basically everything about Windows 11 (although Win 10 was slated to be the last iteration). We got acquainted with the so-called system planning, its requirements and news. The only thing left to wonder is if only Windows 12 is a system worth installing, according to an unwritten tradition ;). However, let’s put the jokes aside, because it got a bit serious. It turns out that XDA Developers has accessed some technical support documents from Microsoft, which indicate that it will soon require all computers (except desktops) to be equipped with a front camera.

These support documents also mention additional requirements for the cameras. Manufacturers, in order to be able to meet the requirements of Windows 11, must put in their computers such cameras that record images in at least HD resolution, which additionally support automatic change of white balance and exposure. Of course, nowadays, a laptop without a built-in webcam is almost unheard of. Instead, there is another worrisome issue, and it’s not just about privacy.

Because while the risks with freedom of choice and privacy come to mind first in this case (because what Microsoft will ask next – the mandatory login via Windows Hello?), that’s another matter. The point is that hardware manufacturers forced by Microsoft to install certain components can eventually drive up PC prices. Well, as always, we can only complain, because the matter seems to have already been settled – in the near future we will only have an inevitable unification, from which it will be difficult to get out.
