Poland wants to make changes to the regulations on VAT rates, especially with regard to books and tickets. Government representatives point out that the current regulations are more beneficial for countries with a longer term in the EU.
A meeting of the finance ministers of 27 countries is being held in Luxembourg. Poland’s Ambassador to the Union, Andrej Sadog, who raised the issue of VAT rates, informed the Information Radio Agency (IAR) via the next.gazeta.pl website
Polish diplomacy would like to make prices more flexible. Andrzej Sadoś indicated that Poland could benefit from reduced VAT rates only until 2010.
Meanwhile, countries that joined the European Union before 1995 can still benefit from reduced VAT rates. Therefore, the Polish representative called for the modernization and reform of the system so that all countries would have equal opportunities.

The IAR reported that Polish diplomacy is trying to negotiate a zero-value-added tax rate on children’s clothing and books. In turn, Polish radio announced that in addition to the above, our politicians also want a zero rate for travel by passenger transport or for artwork.
