“Daddy” Martino, the coach of the Mexican national team, has named 31 players for the training camp in the United States. Poland’s group is scheduled to play against rival Peru at the World Cup in Qatar on September 25 and Colombia two days later.
In September, Martino’s men will play two friendlies in California against South American teams that failed to qualify for the World Cup finals. The first Test is against Peru at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on September 25. Two days later they will play against Columbia at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
The Mexican federation said it has already contracted two other scheduled matches in Spain. Mexico plays Iraq on November 9 and Sweden on November 16.
Ten players playing for European clubs including others in the frame. Both strikers are well known to Polish footballers as they represent the same club colors as the Mexicans this season. Santiago Tomás Gimenez is Sebastian Szymanski’s friend at Feyenoord Rotterdam, and Hirving Rodrigo Lozano plays alongside Piotr Zielinski at SSC Napoli.
Mexico is the first match for the white and red teams at the World Cup in Qatar. The match between these teams will be held on November 22. Gerardo Martino’s side will play Argentina (November 26) and Saudi Arabia (November 30) in their next group games.(PAB)
